Damien Young, MA LMFT CCTP brings over a decade of experience in the field of psychology and addiction treatment, having served as a primary therapist and clinical supervisor in both inpatient and outpatient settings. With a foundation in trauma, attachment, and family systems, Damien is passionate about helping clients unearth the roots of their addiction and codependency issues so that they can move from surviving, to thriving.

Dr. Reza Danesh is a UCLA-trained, board-certified Emergency Medicine physician and founder of MODO MD Concierge Medicine. Before relocating to Maui, he practiced at the world-renowned Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. For more than eight years, Dr. Danesh has provided medical care for individuals recovering from substance use disorders, helping patients safely and comfortably navigate detoxification while managing complex medical conditions throughout recovery.

As Medical Director for Honu House, Dr. Danesh provides physician-led medical oversight, detoxification support, urgent medical evaluations, chronic disease management, medication management, and coordination of care. He also incorporates evidence-informed wellness therapies, when clinically appropriate, including IV hydration, vitamin infusions, NAD+ therapy, GLP-1 medications, peptide therapies, and personalized wellness strategies to support overall health and recovery.

For clients requiring a higher level of medical support during detoxification, MODO MD also offers private physician-directed detox services that may be provided at the facility, when appropriate and coordinated with Honu House. These enhanced services include physician oversight, experienced emergency department nursing support, and IV-enhanced medical support, including hydration, medications, vitamins, NAD+ therapy, peptide therapies, and other clinically appropriate supportive treatments to help manage withdrawal symptoms, improve patient comfort, and support safer detoxification for medically complex patients.

Dr. Danesh’s goal is to help residents build a strong medical foundation for long-term recovery while addressing both acute and chronic health concerns. Following completion of the Honu House program, residents may continue their care with MODO MD through concierge medicine, primary care, wellness services, urgent care, telemedicine, longevity medicine, and comprehensive continuing recovery care. MODO provides ongoing medical monitoring, relapse prevention support, medication management, wellness optimization, and coordinated care to help patients maintain sobriety, improve their overall health, and successfully transition into long-term recovery.

Dr. Rez’s work has also reached a national audience. He was featured as the on-site physician on the Emmy Award-winning HBO series The White Lotus and has appeared on NPR, CNN, ABC, and NBC during coverage of the Maui wildfires, highlighting innovative concierge medicine, emergency medical care, and community-based healthcare in Hawaii.

I am excited to join the Honu House team as Primary Therapist. I have had the tremendous pleasure of knowing John through his recovery journey and am honored to help build a treatment program that reflects our collective passion for compassionate, integrative care to support the healing of the whole person. I have had the privilege of helping people who are struggling with addiction for over a decade and adhere to the wisdom that it is pain, suffering and trauma that compel people to use substances and behaviors addictively. When we address the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual conditions that created the vulnerability for addiction, a resilient and enduring recovery becomes possible. Dougie has been with Honu House since 2024 as an addiction counselor. He has a genuine desire to build community by delving deeply with patients both individually and in groups. Dougie values the focus on family and relationships, as well as vulnerability, and accountability, as these are the foundation and building blocks to a successful long-term recovery. His counseling approach stems from deep introspection and his own personal work. He often says, “I can’t help anyone put on their oxygen mask unless I put on mine first.” Dougie believes that showing kindness and empathy toward others will get you far in life. He has been involved in the arts & theatre, sports, and many public speaking events. Dougie has been a resident of Hawai’i Island for 8 years with his wife, Sylvette. He welcomed his first-born son, ‘Ekolu, in January 2023, and his second son, Cristiano, in January 2025.

Angela is a Resident Manager and proud graduate of Honu House who brings lived experience, compassion, and dedication to the recovery community. Having overcome trauma and addiction, she understands firsthand the courage required to heal and build a meaningful life in recovery.

Actively involved in the sober community, angela facilitates multiple 12-Step meetings and believes that being of service is essential to long-term sobriety. She is deeply committed to passing on what was given to her by supporting others on their recovery journey.

With a natural nurturing instinct Angela leads with empathy, structure, and consistency. She believes a loving, supportive environment is key to healing and works to ensure residents feel safe, valued, and empowered as they grow in recovery.

Alyssa Heenan is our Registered Nurse on Staff. She over sees medication management and provides 1-1 medical needs for our residents. Alyssa specializes in IV therapy and provides infusions for our residents needing Meyers cocktails, Super Enriched Vitamins, NAD and others.

Finding yoga in 2010 was Christine’s initiation to living a holistic life.
Rooted in Ghosh lineage, she completed a teacher training in 2015 at BYTT and in 2021 a teacher training with e84 yoga.
In 2019 she graduated from The Aloha Massage Academy in Kealakekua, specializing in Swedish and Deep Tissue massage. She enjoys using both yoga and massage as healing modalities to reset the body, clear the mind, and deepen our connection to self.

Dr. Daniel Caputo is a graduate of National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and Acupuncturist. His interest in natural medicine grew out of his own desire for a healthy way of living. Diagnosed with severe Asthma at an early age, Dr. Caputo was in and out of hospitals throughout his childhood and teens. Dr. Caputo had been to every kind of Asthma specialist that conventional medicine could offer and had been through numerous medications without any long term improvement.

Doctor Caputo moved to Oregon and there began to take his health into his own hands. He experimented with changing his diet and identified food sensitivities that triggered his symptoms. He supported himself with naturopathic manipulations, acupuncture, herbs, and supplements. Slowly, and with the support of people who cared about him, Dr. Caputo was able to completely remove all medications from his system. There began Dr. Caputo’s journey to become educated in the knowledge of natural healing techniques that utilize the innate intelligence and power of the body, mind, and spirit.

Captain Craig Hawkins has been fishing, surfing and diving in the Hawaiian Islands for over 30 years. Raised in Capistrano Beach, California, Craig dedicated his growing years to surfing and fishing the Southern California and Baja California coastlines, frequenting places like San Quintin, Todos Santos, Blacks, Trestles and Beach Road. In 1986 Craig set his sights on the Hawaiian Islands. Craig currently operates out of world famous Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona, and specializes in daily trips for tourists and locals alike.
