Mental Health Treatment, Co-Occurring Disorders
People with mental health disorders may use alcohol or drugs to manage their symptoms. This can lead to escalating mental health symptoms and alcohol or drug addiction. Evidence shows that when a person has co-occurring disorders, treating one disorder without treating the other can impede treatment progress, and in some cases, can exacerbate the symptoms of both disorders. By addressing both addiction and mental health disorders, we give our patients with co-occurring disorders a real opportunity to move forward on their healing journey.
