Our ongoing outpatient addiction treatment programs allow you to continue your recovery journey in the same place, with the same providers, and with the same approach to recovery you experienced during residential treatment. Our innovative, comprehensive, holistic treatment philosophy and methods combined with traditional addiction treatment techniques provides an ideal way for you to consolidate your gains and take the next step toward lifelong sobriety and recovery.
What is Aftercare?
At Honu House, aftercare is an opportunity to continue your recovery with us, and shift your focus to transitioning from complete, immersive treatment and support to independent living in a healthy, safe, mindful stepwise manner.
We offer two levels of aftercare:
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP):
- Full day of treatment – same as residential
- Live independently or in supported sober/transitional housing
- Free in evenings
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
- Full day of treatment – same as residential
- Live independently or in supported sober/transitional housing
- Free in afternoon/evenings
Honu House aftercare programs are for patients stepping down from our residential treatment program taking the first step toward independent living and reintegration into the world after treatment.
What Happens During PHP/IOP?
PHP and IOP treament at Honu House includes:
- Individual and group counseling and psychotherapy
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)
- Family therapy, if needed
- Medication/medication management, if needed
- Life skills training and educational workshops
- Daily 12-step meetings
- Complementary and alternative therapies:
- Breath work
- Yoga
- Meditation
- Acupuncture
- Sound meditation
- IV therapy
- Cold plunge
- Infrared sauna
- Hyperbaric oxygen chamber
- Nature, Outdoor, and Experiential Therapy
- Ocean therapy:
- Swimming (several times per week)
- Surfing (special occasions)
- Equine therapy (schedule varies)

When you step down to aftercare from residential treatment, we revise your treatment plan. We work with you to create a new plan that consolidates the gains you made during residential treatment and helps you reach your new goal: independent living. We reassess the components of your program to ensure they match where you are, not where you were, and keep you heading in the direction you want to go.
